How we help

One plan for your whole financial life.

The approach

It’s all connected.

Most clients come to us for one pressing thing, financial questions about an employment contract, saving to buy a home, a tax question, and discover that it touches everything else. Disability coverage, the size of a mortgage, how to save, when to invest: none of it stands alone.

We look after the whole picture and keep the parts working together as your career and family change. Even investing, the part most people picture when they think of a financial advisor, is just one piece of the plan, not the whole of it.

What we help with

Cash flow & budgeting

Turning a resident’s stipend or a new attending’s salary into a working plan: what to spend, what to save, and the order to tackle competing priorities like loans, a home, and retirement.

Tax planning & projections

Detailed, year-round tax strategy and projections, not just a number at filing time. For physicians with rising income, we feel this is one of the highest-value parts of the plan.

Student loans & debt management

A clear repayment strategy across training and practice: federal programs and PSLF, refinancing trade-offs, and how loan decisions fit the rest of your plan. And when you’re ready to buy, weighing physician mortgage options against conventional financing, so the home fits your cash flow, not just your pre-approval.

Contract review

A second set of eyes on employment offers and renewals, so you understand compensation, benefits, and the financial fine print before you sign. (We help you weigh the numbers; we are not attorneys.)

Practice ownership

For physicians and dentists buying into or acquiring a practice: evaluating the deal and lining up the right specialists, lender, attorney, valuation, to get it done. Once it’s yours, we advise on the financial side of running it.

Risk management & insurance

Protecting your most valuable asset, your ability to earn: disability and life insurance, property & casualty, group benefits, and long-term care, each sized to your real situation.

Retirement planning

A long-term plan for financial independence: how much to save, where, and what the path looks like, updated as your income and life change.

Business retirement plans

For practice owners: setting up and managing the business’s retirement plan, a 401(k) with profit sharing, designed to help you and your team save more, tax-deferred.

Investment management

Low-cost, tax-efficient portfolios with disciplined rebalancing and tax-loss harvesting. Important, but built to serve the plan rather than to be the whole story.

Education planning

Funding your children’s education without derailing your own goals: 529s and other vehicles, chosen and sized to fit the whole plan.

Estate planning

A plain-language education on what you need, help finding and connecting with an estate attorney, and making sure executed documents actually get implemented. (Again, we guide; the attorney drafts.)

Charitable giving

For the charitably inclined: giving in a tax-efficient way utilizing potential strategies such as donor-advised funds, gifts of appreciated assets, and well-timed contributions, so your generosity goes further and fits the rest of your plan.

Transparent fees

What it costs, plainly stated.

We keep pricing as simple as possible: one comprehensive planning fee, plus a published rate on the assets we manage, so you always know what you pay. Our advice is fee-based and planning-led; on the occasional product that pays a commission, such as insurance, we disclose exactly how we’re compensated.

Financial planning

$5,000 / year

Billed quarterly. Covers personalized advice across your whole financial life, cash flow, tax strategy, retirement, insurance, estate, and more.

Residents and fellows: the planning fee is waived during training. It begins after you enter practice, typically the following January, so it starts once you’re settled into your practice income.

Subject to periodic cost-of-living adjustment, communicated in advance of any change.
